See what's NEW at STF!

Thanks so much for checking out my website!

My name is Lisa Galligan and I live with my husband and 4 little boys in Northern California. I have been an Independent Consultant with Story Time Felts since Early 2007. I decided to become a consultant after seeing how much my children enjoyed the product and realizing what a complete asset it is in a young child's life and in the lives of those who teach them, be that parents, aunts/uncles, grandparents, daycare providers or school teachers. My children have always been very creative and imaginative and our felt gives them a chance to duplicate a story they have heard if they choose to, or to make up a completely new story with the familiar characters. I love that the felt pieces are vibrantly colored, soft to touch and most importantly washable! I love that my 9 month old can chew on a piece without ruining it and that it is safe for him to do so because the dyes used are vegetable based so I know he is not sucking on toxic yuck. Story Time Felts gives me an opportunity to help supplement my husbands income selling something I believe in while being at home with  my children full time watching them grow and knowing they are safe. Having worked in daycare and preschools prior to giving birth, I know that it is easy for children to get lost in the woodwork, and that good childcare is often *very* hard to find.

Very Hungry Caterpillar
Figures to Tell...

My children love the familiarity of the Figures to Tell. It warms my heart to see the light of recognition in their eyes as they say "We have this book mom, we know this story!" I like the fact that in addition to the pieces that are based on popular stories the sets also include text for several originally written stories. I feel this help reinforce the idea to my children that the same pieces can be used to tell many stories. Four of our favorites are: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See; The Napping House; The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear and Guess How Much I Love You.

Transportation Actitity Book
Activity Books
Activity Books are great for those inevitable long car trips. My boys love the Transportation Book, and you really don't even need to take all the pieces with you all the time, you can rotate out 15 or 20 pieces (that store within the activity book) every few weeks to keep the book "new" and keep the rest in a Ziploc baggie at home or in the glove box.

Boy Dress Up Paper Dolls
Dress Up Dolls
Felt Dress-up Dolls are equally as fun and portable when you rotate the pieces. They even come in their own carrying bag and you can't rip or crumple them like traditional paper dolls! Dress up dolls that last more than a few hours, yippee!  Our felt requires no batteries and no electricity! In a time where television is often a focal point of life it is nice to have a fun hands-on technology-free play option available.

Calendar Felt Set
Calendar Set

We use the Calender Set almost every morning at home when I sit and "play school" with my 4 year old, 2.5 year old and 9 month old. We do the calendar, sing songs and then tell a felt story; usually a Figures to Tell one or one from the Bible Set. The Calendar Set is a great way to teach the kids months of the year, days of the week, the concepts 'yesterday', 'today', 'tomorrow', 'next week', 'last week' etc. as well as deciding which weather felt best describes our morning. They love counting down the days until special events such as birthdays and holidays as well.

Weather Bear
Early Learning
My toddler and preschooler also enjoy the Early Learning felt. They enjoy listening to me do the Finger Play Fun with them and putting on a Three Little Pigs play with the Mask Sets. Dress Me Bear has big pieces that even the youngest child will enjoy dressing up the bear.

Scripture Stories Bible Felts
Religious Felts

My children really enjoy re-enacting the familiar stories of the Bible with the Religious Felts, David and Goliath, Jonah, Noah's Ark, and the story of Joseph are some of our ultimate favorites. The Birth of Jesus and The Crucifixion and Resurrection sets are especially great around Easter and Christmas to remind us of the true meanings behind the Hallmark holidays.  The Tale of Three Trees is also well loved at our house since we have had the book or several years before acquiring the felt.

I love that the felt allows my children a multi-sensory learning experience. My kids seem to not really have a *best* learning style and certainly not any one style at the same time, so it is nice that they can learn through seeing the stories and lessons acted out, touching the felt pieces as they act out the stories themselves, hearing both spoken stories and through songs and telling the stories themselves and in some cases my baby enjoys 'tasting' the felt.

We are considering officially homeschooling my oldest next year as well as passively 'homeschooling'  the younger children and Story Time felt has such a wide range of products that they make a very good supplemental program to many different subjects and themes a child of any age would be needing to learn. I love that you can adapt the felt to fit any age. A rain forest bird can be "a bird" to a one year old, a "red, yellow and blue bird" for a 2 year old, and later "macaw" as the child ages and begins to learn more and more about the subjects. Story Time Felt has many educational Felt Story Boards including dinosaurs, farm, space, rain forest, ocean; math; letters; and U.S. geography as well as classic fairy tales and make believe, and for Christian families the Religious Felt boards. Each can be adapted to fit the age child that is using it from generic labeling of objects to a jumping board to in depth learning of very specific categories and species within a subject. The Learning Letters can be used to learn individual sounds and then later to combine letters to make words and perhaps simple sentences.
