Santa Rosa, California - Storytelling is an age-old powerful teaching modality that is guaranteed to touch the mind and heart of a child. Imagine sitting before a captive audience of children and watching their eyes light up and facial expressions change as you share a story. Now, picture the reactions of the same room full of attentive youngsters as you place felt characters, props, and other visuals on a board and turn story hour into a real life adventure!
Karen Clark, a school teacher in Santa Rosa, was introduced to Story Time Felts products in 1998 and quickly signed on as an independent consultant within a few short weeks. "When I saw the catalog for the first time, I wanted to buy everything," shared Karen. "I quickly realized the educational value of these products and knew they would go over well with parents and teachers." It was at that very moment Karen dedicated herself to the mission of introducing these felt story board products to children through their parents and educators. Over the past five years, Karen still delights in watching the faces of children as their eyes light up and they are magically drawn to the visuals throughout the story telling experience.
Karen has remained among the top consultants in Story Time Felts company since 1999 and currently has more than 350 consultants in her sales organization, Fun Felt for Kids. She most recently topped her competitors for the first quarter of 2003 in areas of personal sales, bringing the most new consultants to the company, and motivating her team to achieve high sales. This accomplishment placed Karen as #1 in the company's National Pace Setter program and earned her a cash award for her hard work and devotion. This is one of many honors Karen has been awarded as a result of her passion for the products and her desire to place them in the homes and classrooms of students nationwide. Patti Gardner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Story Time Felts exclaims, "Karen has been a great supporter and leader to not only her personal team but her entire organization!"
Story Time Felts realizes that women lead very busy lives and understands they must be balanced in order to be successful in every aspect of their lives. Their decisions are based on simple principles which include simplicity, low pressure, rewards for those who work, ability to build a business, teaching the basics and celebrating each personal style - and enjoyment in what you do. The company's mission and values have been instrumental in recruiting teachers who are seeking both classroom visuals and part-time employment to supplement their income. In turn, teachers continually serve as an influence to the company in creating new products to coincide with popular literature. Last year the company introduced felt sets which accompany the popular children's books The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? among others.
There is no limit to what Karen sees herself doing with the company. She maintains a Web site at http://www.funfelt.com that attracts new business and potential recruits weekly, as well as hosts TeachersInBusiness, an e-mail discussion at yahoogroups.com designed for teachers who engage in part-time business opportunities alongside their teaching careers. As far as her next goal in the company, Karen is working toward earning a cruise with the company. As Karen sees it, the opportunities with Story Time Felts are endless and the rewards of implementing their products into the classroom environment are priceless!
